Laurel Tree

Nantucket, Massachusetts
Residential

For this country estate, our goal was to reimagine our clients’ private family spaces while preserving the integrity of the home’s more formal front rooms. Inspired by the understated luxury of Tennessee’s Blackberry Farm & Blackberry Mountain, we crafted an environment that feels at once refined, inviting, and bespoke.

To enhance flow and gathering, we removed the wall between the kitchen and living room, establishing a more intuitive connection between spaces. A dry-laid stone fireplace now anchors the heart of the home, while layered textures—black-painted windows, warm brass tones, soft bouclé fabrics, and handwoven materials—introduce richness and depth.

The home’s story is woven into every detail:

  • A repurposed wood mantel from the client’s beloved lake house.

  • Lewis & Wood wallpaper in the breakfast area which recalls a family safari.

  • Woven textures and warm brown-and-pink tones that add depth and a sense of nostalgia.

  • Artwork curated from Merritt Gallery speaks to the clients’ style.

True customization takes time, but the results are unmatched.  Every detail, from bespoke millwork to enlarged baseboards that subtly balance the space, was meticulously designed. Black-painted windows, once overlooked, became a transformative design element—so striking that they are frequently mistaken for brand new.

When we revealed the completed space, the client hugged us and cried with joy—a moment that encapsulated the depth of what great design can achieve.
